It is with great sadness that we have to announce that on Sunday 2^nd November, David Beer our founder member  and much loved pastor died and went to be with the Lord, whom he loved and served throughout his life.  David had been battling with cancer for the last two years but had continued to teach and head up Purpose Driven UK.

 David was well known for both his ministry at Purpose Driven and for his extensive experience in pastoring churches and encouraging other church leaders, also being on the selection board at Spurgeon’s College.  David had spent forty-seven years in ministry being involved in leadership in churches in Louisville, U.S.A., Coventry, Gravesend, Tonbridge and finally as Senior Pastor at Frinton on Sea.  He was always keen to see churches develop a balanced, healthy ministry and in the late 1990’s after meeting Rick Warren of Saddleback Church in U.S.A., introduced Purpose Driven Church teaching and resources into the U.K.

His role as European Co-Ordinator for Purpose Driven and his teaching, reflected through seminars, campaigns and the writing of four books, has greatly influenced many churches and individuals  across Europe.

Our desire is to continue the ministry and vision for Europe that David had and we ask at this time that you will pray for the Purpose Driven team and for all those, especially his wife Dorothy, daughter Leisa and son Keith, who will be greatly affected by his death.

 VISIT TO SLOVAKIA

Pastor Mark Macklin and Pastor Ben Marlowe visited Slovakia on behalf of Purpose Driven UK to help train church leaders and encourage church growth. Ben has shared some of his experiences below, please pray for this country and their leaders.

It was good to meet with around 40 pastors representing different denominations. David Beer had done a very good job on previous visits in getting them enthused about the PD paradigm. As a result there was a strong desire to implement CLASS. Mark Macklin and I went through 101, 201, 301 & 401. We talked about the content of CLASS at Frinton and Hounslow, the goals of the seminars/courses and the benefits of running CLASS.

We were able to share stories from our respective church experiences and I believe that they were challenged by hearing how we have implemented the same principles but in different ways in our different contexts. Their overall appreciation for us doing these seminars seemed to be very high. It was also good to talk with these leaders who could be very effective in furthering the PD journey in Slovakia.

WE HAVE COMPLETED OUR 'STRATEGIC CHURCH' COURSES FOR 2008 - NEW COURSES PLANNED FOR 2009.

These  one day consultations are designed to help leaders build strategic churches. They provide valuable insights and practical ideas that are essential in helping your church become a healthy, growing community of disciples of Christ and give you the opportunity to share  experiences.
